- The best location for puja room is the Northeast direction. A puja room in north quadrant gives positive results. You can go for east, north and north-east directions as well.
- One should face towards East/North while worshiping.
- It should be on ground floor, not on first floor or in the basement.
- Avoid constructing your puja room under the stairs or basement.
- While worshiping, the legs of the idol should be at the chest level of the person worshiping depending on the position, whether standing or sitting.
- Nothing should be stored above the cabinet or slab here the God’s idol is placed.
- Copper vessels only shall be used particularly where water is collected.
- Triangular pattern of any God should not be drawn in the Puja room.
- The Agnikund should be in the southeast direction of the worship room. The sacred offerings to the fire should be made with the face towards the east.
- Lamp stand should be placed in the Southeast corner of the puja room.
- The idol should not be exactly in front of the entrance gate.
- The idols should not be kept at a place obtained by chiseling off the wall or touching the wall. They should be kept at least an inch away from the wall.
- Avoid keeping heavy, cluttered and broken idols in the puja room.
- Avoid photos of dead people in puja room.
- A Puja room should never be made in a bedroom or on a wall adjacent to the bathroom wall.
- The puja room should never ever be made in the bedroom.
- The puja room should not be made above electrical appliances or gas stoves.
- The doors and windows of puja room should be in north and east directions, respectively.The doors should have two shutters. The doors should not have any door closer.
- A ventilator in the puja room is a must.
- The walls of puja room should be painted in white, light yellow or light blue color.
- The flooring should be of white or off-white marble in color.
- Cupboard for placing things should be in south or west of puja room. It is favorable to have a threshold in puja room.
- There should be only puja room in a house and it should not be used for other purposes, like storage etc.
