Some Amazing Uses of a Microwave

Give Your Plants a Boost
Sterilize soil for growing seedlings by heating it up in the microwave first. This will get rid of the microbes, weed seeds and other germs. A microwave oven cooks things by super-heating the water molecules present in food or other items. Because of that, it is important that the soil you are sterilizing is not too dry. Use a spray bottle to moisten the soil if it is dry, then mix it up to evenly distribute the water and microwaving them for 90 seconds per kilogram.

You can easily remove a stamp from an envelope by putting a drop of water of it and then microwaving it for 10-15 seconds.

Disinfect Sponges
Microwaving a sponge can kill almost all of the household germs . Saturate your sponges and other cleaning cloths with water and heat them in the microwave for 60 seconds.

Save Your Stale Bread
Just wrap the bread in a wet towel and microwave on high power for short periods of about 10 seconds. Repeat until you’re satisfied with the moistness. Try not to heat more than 3 times of 10 seconds each.

Peel Garlic in a Jiffy
Microwave garlic cloves for 10 seconds and they’ll come off much more easily. This effect is probably related to water in the garlic steaming while it’s being heated in a Microwave. That steam breaks down the bond between the clove and the skin. This is also heplful for tomatoes and peaches.

Juice up your Citrus
Before juicing an orange or lemon, microwave the uncut fruit for 10-15 seconds. The microwave will make it easier to juice.

Dry the Herbs/Spices
By putting parsley and other herbs in your microwave on full power for a couple of minutes you can dry them up without any waste.

Soggy Chips!
Just place the chips on a towel, without covering them up, in the microwave and heat them up a bit. The towel will absorb the moisture and the chips will regain their crunch!

Hard Sugar
Often quite useful with brown sugar, simply place a damp towel in the sugar box, close the lid, and heat the box up for about 20 seconds. The sugar will come out loosened.

Get back the Honey
For crystallised honey, removing the lid and heating it on 50% power for about 2 minutes one can get rid of the crytalisation.

Quick soak lentils and beans
If your recipe required you to soak beans or lentils overnight and you forgot, fear not, we have a hack for you! Place the beans in a bowl with a bit of baking soda and submerge them in water. Microwave on high for 10 minutes and then let them sit for about 40 minutes. That’s one night worth of soaking in less than an hour!
